Welcome to the web page of Jeunesses Musicales Norway, the Norwegian section of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI). We will do our best to keep you updated on national as well as international projects for youth. Jeunesses Musicales Norway is a network organisation for several Norwegian organisations working for music and youth. We are also a member of Jeunesses Musicales International.
JMI is the largest youth music NGO in the world, created in Brussels, Belgium in 1945 with the mission to “enable young people to develop through music across all boundaries”. With a vast array of activities, JMI has established four priority activity fields: Young Musicians, Young Audiences, Youth Empowerment and Youth Orchestras & Ensembles.
With member organizations currently in 45 countries and contact organizations in another 35, JMI is a global network providing opportunities for young people to engage with music. The JMI network reaches over 5 million young people aged 13-30 per year through some 36,000 activities, which embrace all styles of music, and coordinates cross-border exchange opportunities on the international level.
JMI places empowerment, with its emphasis on social inclusion and cohesion, at its core. For over 60 years, JMI has been ‘Making a Difference through Music’, using the power of music to bridge across social, geographical, racial and economic divides and creating a platform for intercultural dialogue.

The national vocal project Sangløftet, funded by the Norwegian Savings Bank foundation is a two year cooperation project between Jeunesses Musicales Norway and the Norwegian Music Council.
The project addresses every singer and everyone that conducts singing activities, regardless of level, age and place of residence, and across all genres. Sangløftet accomplishes a wide range of local, regional and national efforts in the coming years. The three main pillars: proficiency raising, experiences and repertoire development, contributes to innovation and enrich already existing singing-activities.
Jeunesses Musicales Norway works together with a broad range of organisations within the field of music and youth in Norway. Based on the idea "the more, the marrier", the network under JMN's umbrella offers a wide specter of activities for young music enthusiasts both nationally and internationally. You can read more about our network and cooperation partners here.
