Musikk og Ungdom is the Norwegian section of the worldwide youth and music network Jeunesses Musical International (JMI), working under the the headline of “making a difference through music”. Musikk og Ungdom has offered international music experiences for young audiences as well as young performers for more than 40 years. Common to all our projects is the focus on international cooperation and youth empowerment .
Musikk og Ungdom’s vision is to create and maintain a positive, available international music environment for young people. We want to be a promoter of awareness and global cultural understanding for young musicians through music across national boundaries. We work towards these goals by:
Musikk og Ungdom’s mission is to provide that “extra something” for individual musicians as well as ensembles and audiences. As such, we see it as our main task to facilitate international exchange and expertise that can develop the individual. We do not see it as our job to organize the individual choral singer or the individual choirs, but rather to help the singer who needs or wants further development to take part in international programs, for example the World Youth Choir.
Therefore, cooperation with other national and international actors is crucial to our work. Musikk og Ungdom is a national networking organization for a number of Norwegian organizations who work for this audience. Through Musikk og Ungdom’s network, we can offer opportunities for cooperation, development and exchange of expertise and experience both nationally and through our international network Jeunesses Musicales International.
Jeunesses Musicales International is the largest international network for music and youth. Throughout the year, Jeunesses Musicales International involves more than 5 million young musicians through 36.000 national and international activities, all under the motto “Making a difference through music”.
