JM Jazz Programme is currently seeking up to five young, talented jazz musicians to participate in a jazz improvisation course held this summer in Norway!

When: August 1 - August 8, 2010
Where: Søgne, Norway (outside of Kristiansand)

This course is part of Jeunesses Musicales International’s JM Jazz Program program, which encompasses training, performance and touring projects such as the JM Croatia HGM jazz orchestra. The JM Jazz Program aims to enable young jazz musicians to gain experience working to high professional standards in major concert halls, theatres and festivals; to get connected and work alongside some of today's most outstanding jazz musicians; and to share musical ideas.

This JM Jazz Program project is coordinated by Jeunesses Musicales Norway.

About the course:

The course, which in total has more than 100 participants yearly, is based on two key aspects: ensemble playing and instrumental classes. The participants will be divided into ensembles that will work together under an instructor’s supervision for the period of one week. Following that, the participants will listen to a diversity of concerts throughout the week and finish off with a performance with their ensemble. Additionally, jam sessions are arranged every evening. We also offer lectures on relevant topics such as theory/jazz harmonics, improvisation techniques, jazz history, listening etc.

Participants will get to work with their respective instrumental teachers, both alone and in groups. The program will accommodate the level and knowledge of each participant.

International participants in 2009 reported on high musical level, a beautiful scenery and great fun together with the almost 100 Norwegian participants.
